Facilities Leadership

Reports to Executive Coordinator of Facilities and Global Distribution. The AFTL will assist with overall management and supervision of the entire facility, including Team Member hiring and development. Also responsible for overseeing overall distribution execution, distribution financial performance and special projects as assigned. Complete accountability for all aspects of facility operations.

Responsibilities
- Interview, select, train and develop Team Members.
- Act as Facility Team Leader in their absence.
- Work collaboratively with Team Member Services on Team Member relations.
- Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards in accordance with all WFM Project annual sales, expenses, and cases as well as prepare annual budgets.
- Ensure purchasing supports store sales by managing an aggressive quality program and maintaining optimal in-stock levels.
- Manage inventory levels to drive inventory turns: identify slow movers and initiate disco.
- Achieve margin targets through control of credits and shrink.
- Achieve budgeted expense levels through active management of the two largest controllable expense categories in the facility, wages and transportation.
- Coordinate and supervise physical inventory process, and ensure accuracy at all levels of the process.
- Establish and manage productivity and accuracy standards for all variable Team Member positions.
- Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Leadership.
- Communicate regularly with stores to ensure service is timely and accurate.
- Attend regularly scheduled store operations and regional meetings; MALN and FTL conference calls/ Meetings.
- Communicate all facility objectives, coordinator information and relevant information clearly to Team Members in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate, complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual and “ad hoc” management reports.
- Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
- Proper use of knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six wheel carts, baler, and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and facility.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management
- Thorough knowledge of natural foods industry and Whole Foods Market quality goals
- Responsible for ensuring that all vendor organic certifications are on hand and current
- Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and standards
- Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards
- Knowledge of all relevant Whole Foods Market policies and standards
- Outstanding verbal and written communicator
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work well with others, self-motivated and capable of working independently with little supervision. Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including nights, weekends and holidays as required
Desired Work Experiences
- Distribution leadership or ASTL/TL experience (3+ years)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
