Associate Buyer, Distribution Center

Responsible for replenishment ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory quantities of produce, meat, floral, specialty, or grocery for the stores serviced by the distribution center.

Responsibilities                                                                                

  • Analyzes inventory levels and replenishes accordingly.
  • Ensure that all purchase orders are approved and dispatched in a timely manner.
  • Make changes as needed to existing purchase orders to ensure that the correct product is received and pricing is correct.
  • Process allocations as requested by regional leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with Facility Teams, Regional Buyers, Global Buyers and Vendors.
  • Submit new item forms to Inventory Control for slotting.
  • Compile reports for buyers as needed.
  • Attend all team and facility meetings.
  • Provide ideas and suggestions that contribute to the growth of the team and/or improve work environment.
  • Participate in period and quarterly physical inventory as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Professional telephone etiquette and superior customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal
  • Retail or purchasing experience (prior WFM experience preferred)
  • Fluently read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Intermediate computer skills. Knowledge of and an aptitude to learn warehouse management systems and technology (experience with Orderlink, EXE, and PeopleSoft preferred)
  • Ability to multitask and cope with stress in a productive manner
  • Proven ability to be a team player in a fast paced environment
  • A desire to learn about natural and organic foods and a passion for WFM products
The wage range for this position is $23.10-$39.60 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
