Bakehouse Packing and Shipping Assistant Manager

Job Description

As the Associate Team Leader, you will support the Team Leader in providing overall management and supervision of the Packing Team. This is a working position that will perform all the functions assigned by the Team Leader including shipping, pallet consolidation, assisting with warehouse work, supporting the safety program and unloading/loading of product.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, train, develop, and counsel Team Members in a manner that is conducive for building and sustaining a high performing team, and minimizes turnover.
  • Ensure that all Team Members are following the training program, including monitoring progress and processing all required paperwork.
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which sustains an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale.
  • Select and develop supervisors as potential Team Leaders.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful Job Dialogues
  • Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards.
  • Manage team operations to meet Whole Foods Market quality standards, maintain competitive pricing and achieve targeted sales.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Facility Team, Team Leaders, and all Team Members.          
  • Confer with Facility Team Leader and other Team Leaders to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other activities such as order management, purchasing, accounting and human resources.     
  • Model and cultivate effective inter-department and inter-facility communication.
  • Ensure Team Members receive accurate paychecks with accurate punch details
  • Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regularity rules and standards, including: OSHA, FMLA, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation, FDA, Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Relay information to TMs through huddles and team meetings
  • Complete all required daily documentation for FSMA, HACCP, Metal detection, and all other logs as required for the facility
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel, EXE, and PeopleSoft
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Passion for all WFM policies and procedures and thorough product knowledge
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service
  • Phenomenal time management skills
  • High attention to detail and thoroughness in approach with all paperwork
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computers and systems
  • Proper use of knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six wheel carts, baler and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store.
  • Ability to work well with others, self-motivated and capable of working independently with little supervision. Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including nights, weekends and holidays as required

Desired Work Experiences

  • Supervisor or lead (1 year)
  • Warehouse experience preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
The wage range for this position is $24.00-$43.14 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
