Item Compliance Analyst

Job Description

We are hiring an Item Compliance Analyst to join the Center Store Compliance Team, supporting the Standardized Compliance Program (SCP). The Item Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting new and existing Whole Foods Market suppliers in meeting food safety requirements and WFM Quality Standards, shepherding the supplier through SCP from onboarding, compliance approval, and initiating the item set up process. The Item Compliance Analyst provides guidance to suppliers on how to use software and troubleshoot any issues that arise and acts as liaison between Center Store Compliance and WFM internal, business partner teams to answer questions regarding the supplier’s progress and escalate non-compliant suppliers.   This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week.

Major Job Responsibilities:  

  • Administers the Standardized Compliance Program for Whole Body. 
  • Prioritizes tasks to ensure suppliers and business partners can perform next steps. 
  • Communicates directly with suppliers and business partners to assist with compliance related activities and requirements. 
  • Comfortable explaining complex software processes to non-technical audiences.  
  • Provides big-picture reporting to support team performance. 
  • Escalates any issues or non-responsive suppliers. 
  • Trouble shoots issues and provides feedback on the process. 
  • Inputs supplier data into business compliance software applications.  
  • Inputs supplier data into downstream item set up applications.  
  • Applies Company- and function-specific procedures, processes, and technologies to accomplish projects and tasks; applies knowledge and specialized skill to decide how to build, implement, and deliver on assigned goals.  
  • Helps develop and improve upon category-specific Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Participates and offers ideas and opinions as an active team member, accepting guidance as required.  
  • Uses innovative solutions to enhance personal work and, where applicable, the work of the team.  
  • Seeks advice when addressing complex or unusual problems.  
  • Proactively engages with customers, internally and externally, to understand objectives and issues.  
  • Troubleshoots and recommends solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity. 

Must Haves (Knowledge and Skills):   

  • BA/BS degree and 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
  • Experience in the use of the FoodLogiQ software application.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail.   
  • Moderate to high degree of technical aptitude; understands functional technical problems and concepts to system functionality for resolution. 
  • Highly motivated to learn and innovate through evolving program requirements. 
  • Able to handle confidential information.  

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:   

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)  
  • Working knowledge of food labeling and FDA / USDA regulations.  
  • General knowledge of food safety requirements and WFM Quality Standards.
