Print Production Specialist

Job Description

Responsible for working with designers to review draft package designs and the information included on packaging. Creates label design checklists and ensures proper placement of required packaging information, including marketing name, instructions, country of origin, and placement of lot code and best-by date. Facilitates label and package review by certification bodies, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Ensures labeling is accurate and updated / revised on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development and application of the Label Design Checklist and with ensuring widespread understanding and use by graphics, creative, marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Engages with vendors and other third-party stakeholders to ensure effective label development, review, and understanding of and adherence to requirements.
  • Engages with vendors / stakeholders to gather, assess, and incorporate outstanding information necessary for package development.
  • Facilitates the label review and approval process by third-parties, including vendors, organic certification agencies, kosher certification bodies, and parties involved in the WFM trade guarantee program (i.e. Fair-Trade USA).
  • Proofreads, corrects, and publishes revisions for package design layouts.
  • Checks packaging information against the FDA Code of Federal Regulation (Section 21) for accuracy and compliance.
  • Sets up quarterly product packaging reviews to identify issues in printing and production.
  • Ensures effective storage of empty EB packaging ‘flats’ for review and reference.
  • Supports the EB supplier packaging reprint approval process by responding to communication, preforming quality reviews of proposed reprints, checking quantity requests, and controlling / preventing printing of excess packaging.

Skills:

  • Broad understanding of the food industry and/or consumer packaged goods industry and associated packaging materials, packaging equipment, packaging systems and controls, and related manufacturing applications.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Experience working with a product life-cycle management system.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening.
  • Presents information and responds to questions with guidance, one-on-one, and with internal and external customers.
  • Able to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.
  • Supports team projects within defined area of responsibility.

  • Understands the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
The wage range for this position is $60,021.00-$102,036.00 Annual, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
